Black Liver Play – Devilled Eggs – Sat 25th Oct, 7:30pm – Kemnay Village Hall

A new play from Black Liver.

Welcome to the Dakota Guest House! The most glamorous B&B this side of Blackpool!

The Dakota is the true spirit of Variety; comedy, music and mystery are resident guests here and every room has its tale to tell.

https://neatshows.org.uk/event/devilled-eggs-2/

Let your hosts, Roman and Prudence flip through their guest book and regale you with showbiz stories and anecdotes. From their heyday as the B&B to the stars to their present day haven of secrets, Ro and Pru will introduce you to the characters that reside in The Dakota. Expect songs, sketches and verse as each guest room opens.

From acclaimed theatre makers Black Liver, Devilled Eggs is their latest two-hander play about a guest house over the span of a one night stay (breakfast included).

Like the eggs The Dakota serves at breakfast, this show is fresh, cheeky and devilishly spicy!

The Fastest Show in Scotland

Highland theatre makers Morna, Jade & Vicky are tasked with creating a show all about how wonderful Nairn is. Shouldn’t be too difficult, right?

They’ll take you on a trip through the thriving, totally drama-free, completely seagull-less, appropriate traffic flowing, virtually perfect wee town, whilst also telling real stories about local people and places en route.

After speedily selling out Nairn’s own Little Theatre three times in 2023 + a detour to Aberdeen Music Hall for Light The Blue Festival in 2024, the girls are back on the road again for a reboot of their comedic & rather chaotic journey through ‘The Fastest Town in Scotland’.

Appearing at Kemnay Village Hall on Saturday 6th September.  Tickets available at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/booking/select/xmldapjdkwqr or by emailing bookings@kemnayhall.co.uk and may be available on the door (advance booking preferred).

Kemnay Hall Needs You

Are you community spirited? Would you have a few hours to spare each month?

Kemnay village hall is seeking members of the public to join our management committee.  We  would especially like to hear from people with business management, finance, legal, marketing, and social media experience but we will welcome anyone who has the willingness and enthusiasm to take the hall to new heights.

We have a two-tier system in place, which is comprised of Trustees (the main board) and Members.

The roles are defined as follows:

the MEMBERS – who have the right to attend members’ meetings (including the annual general meeting) and have important powers under the constitution; in particular, the members appoint people to serve on the board and take decisions on changes to the constitution itself;

and

the BOARD (also known as TRUSTEES)- who hold regular meetings, and generally control the activities of the organisation; for example, the board is responsible for monitoring and controlling the financial position of the organisation.

If interested you are welcome to attend our next committee meeting in the Friendship room of the village hall on MONDAY 3RD MARCH 2025 AT 7PM to meet current committee members and find out what is involved.

Please email bookings@kemnayhall.co.uk to note your interest.

Wainman Room – Christmas Day Let

Merry Christmas to you all. Ho, Ho, Ho.

We let the Wainman Room on Christmas Day to a family so that they could have their Xmas Dinner together. The reason for the family wanting to use the hall was that one person had mobility issues and could not access a standard house.

I think that you will agree from the above photos that our Hall Keeper, Brian, has gone over and above to add an extra degree of festivity-ness to their celebrations.

Thank you for being so thoughtful Brian.

If you have a function or are interested in booking the Hall why not send us a message here ?

Firelight Trio – Upcoming Gig – 10th November 2024

Firelight Trio - a dazzling tapestry of European folk music.
Firelight Trio – a dazzling tapestry of European folk music.

Firelight Trio is a mighty new group featuring Fatea instrumentalist of the Year 2023 Gavin Marwick (fiddle), groovily inventive accordionist/pianist Phil Alexander (Moishe’s Bagel), and Ruth Morris (Outlander, HBO) on the beautiful Swedish nyckelharpa. They play European music that is evocative, inventive, wide-ranging, and endlessly exciting – a rich tapestry of lively Swedish polskas and Scottish reels, lilting French waltzes, toe-tapping klezmer, and dazzling original tunes.

They will be playing live at Kemnay Village Hall on the 10th November at 7:30pm. Don’t miss them! Firelight Trio: Balkanpolska (live) (youtube.com). Tickets £10 and £7 (students and under 18s) available from Kemnay Farm Shop and Kintore Library, online at https://www.NEATshows.co.uk/events/ or by emailing bookings@kemnayhall.co.uk
