The Wainman Room was named after Mavis Wainman OBE who worked tirelessly for the people of Kemnay. Welcoming newcomers to the area, she did her utmost to make sure that all areas of Kemnay worked together for the good of the community. She was the driving force behind the extension of The Village Hall and also instrumental in setting up the Kemnay Newsletter. Her gardening expertise and her love of nature (except spiders) were legendary and for this she was awarded The Green Butterfly Award.
